Canada World Youth
Canada World Youth (CWY) offers international educational programs to young people aged 17 to 24. Since 1971, more than 25 000 people from Canada and around the world have participated in CWY programs in 67 countries.
Nature of Work
With CWY, groups of 18 young people from different cultures leave their homes to spend a total of six months together?three in a Canadian community and three in a community in one of our partner countries. The participants live with host families and do volunteer work in the field, in areas such as biodiversity and the environment, agriculture and forestry, community development, education, health, new media and new information technologies.
We offer placements in Canada and in countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
Programs last six months; they generally start in late August and end in March.
Canada World Youth is for young men and women from all cultural backgrounds, all regions of Canada and all walks of life!
To be eligible, you must be:
- between 17 and 24 (up to 29 for some programs)
- a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
- in good health
- open-minded and flexible
- motivated and ready to embark on the experience of a lifetime!
There is no remuneration, but CWY will pay for your plane ticket and cover expenses related to food, lodging and insurance, as well as providing the educational materials for your program.
You also have an important role to play as an active and committed citizen: You will need to rally your energy and enthusiasm to support Canada World Youth?s programs concretely by fundraising at least $1950. But don?t worry. We will give you advice to make sure that your efforts pay off.
