Sisters of Social Service

Mission Statement
We, the Society of the Sisters of Social Service, are a community of women dedicated to gospel values, who were called forth by our foundresses and the social encyclical "Rerum Novarum" to recognize, prevent and eradicate social ills. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit at work in ourselves, our lay collaborators, and our world, we are a transforming presence through a variety of ministries.
Purpose
Benedictine in spirit we esteem as essential values: a balance between work, prayer and leisure, simplicity, harmony, positive spirit, hospitality, meaingful and relevant liturgies, living authentic community, ongoing conversion, appreciation of the diverse gifts of all.
In our pioneering spirit we dedicate ourselves to a radical expression of service to liberate those oppressed by social structures, addressing particularly women, children and families.
Empowered by the quality of our communal life focussed on Christ, we prepare to meet new needs of church and to foster peace, hope and joy in new areas of ministry.
