Time for God (TFG)

Mission Statement

Time For God aims to provide quality volunteering opportunities through which God changes lives

Purpose

To provide oportunities for young adults (18-30) to serve alongside charities and churches throughout the UK and the world, gaining work, life and faith experiences. Through working in these challenging environments, it is our aim that they will explore and discover new talents and gifts, and grow in their knowledge and relationship with God, regardless of where that journey begins.

Nature of Work

Young adults work alongside staff in a wide variety of projects, from homeless hostels and drug rehabilitation centres, to church youthwork and YMCA projects, and outdoor activity centres / youth centres, as well as care homes for those with disabilities. We provide training and support throughout the time of service.

Placement

Projects primarily based in UK and Ireland, where we have the widest range of placements (hosting around 130 people each year). We also have projects in Africa and Russia, and partner organisations throughout Europe.

Commitment Begins

UK & Europe intake starts in August / September (recruiting Feb onwards). Africa & Russia are flexible and have no specific start time.

Remuneration

Yes

In the UK you will receive £140 per month, as well as your accommodation, food and work related transport. Other countries operate on a similar level relative to that currency.

Cost to Participate

$3,330.00 for the UK. Costs include: Full board and lodging for the length of the placement; pocket-money at an appropriate local subsistence level (e.g. £140 per month for volunteers serving in the UK); volunteer training (conferences and more); field support (visits and more); final certificate acknowledging your period of volunteering. Costs for other countries vary, so please contact us for information.

Requirements

Young adults programme ages 18-30 in UK and Europe. Africa and Russia age 20+ (basic Russian and international experience an advantage). We also have an "all ages" programme for those over 30.

Other Details

We see it as our role to help each volunteer explore what it means to follow Jesus, starting from where they themselves are, rather than where we would like them to be. Thus we welcome young people from all the mainstream Christian traditions, and both those with a passionate/personal faith and those with a more casual/nominal approach or indeed no faith at all - and all points in between - with the understanding that we are all committed to exploring our journeying together.
